Hydrosphere (2023)
An interest in the interconectedness of the earth and sky throughout my own work led to the development of Hydrosphere.
I printed the work at Swan River Print Studios in Goolugatup Heathcote, a cultural precinct overlooking the river in Applecross in Western Australia.
In the artworks I use a multi plate mono print using waterbased inks, recycled plastic and card. Some of the plates exhibit past uses. The accumulation of many years of embossing allow a unique narrative to become exposed. This was achieved by positioning the plates in varied compositions developing from my prior Winged Realm Series. The Winged Realm Series meditated on the life cycle of the lotus flower, whereby at the end of each evening the flower returns to the murky waters only to open its blooms again at dawn.
